Facilitating Agricultural Regeneration Measures (FARM) in Northeast Phase I, was successfully implemented by GGSS in 16 villages of Dimoria Block, among 2000 marginal farming families under 4 Gaon Panchayats in Kamrup Metro district with the support of Caritas India. The main focus of the project was to improve the quality of life of the poor and marginalized communities through sustainable livelihood options (mainly agriculture and allied). The target families were provided with knowledge and practical lessons on sustainable agriculture practices and organic farming methods. The farmers are trained in making and the use of low cost bio-inputs & pesticides to improve income from agriculture. The Preparatory Phase of the 2nd Phase of FARM Northeast project began in April 2016 and is being implemented in 15 villages in the same block with seven new villages as well as continuing the hand-holding support to the beneficiaries of the 1st Phase. Major thrust of the Project implementation is promoting People Led Development Approach to find solutions for the common problems faced in livelihood issues and agriculture practices at village level. Promotion of sustainable agriculture practices, herbal medicine, group farming, farmers groups etc are the major components of the project. Awareness creation on RTI Act, Importance of Gram Sabha, facilitation in availing various schemes and benefits etc are also being carried out at village level.
