Promotion of traditional vegetables and paddy SEED BANKS

As an important intervention on seed preservation among the farming community under the FARM Northeast Project, seed banks of local vegetables and paddy is being set up in the target villages. The farmers collect the seeds of different vegetables and paddy from the villagers and store it in a specifically arranged room where seeds can be preserved. The seeds are again distributed to the farmers on need basis with the assurance of returning the same on a specific period. Lead farmers are entrusted with the responsibility of the maintenance of the seed banks.
