Amid the unprecedented crisis brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and the prolonged lockdown period of 2019-2021, the Guwahati Gana Seva Society (GGSS) took compassionate humanitarian action to support vulnerable communities of Goalapara, Hojai and Morigaon district of Assam. Understanding the immediate needs of families facing food insecurity and hygiene challenges, GGSS organized a comprehensive emergency humanitarian relief response. The organization successfully distributed dry ration and hygiene kits to 3,434 families covering approximate 18,000 individuals severely impacted by the pandemic.
The relief packages included essential food items such as rice, pulses, cooking oil, salt, and sugar, along with critical hygiene supplies like soaps, sanitizers, and face masks. The initiative aimed not only to provide immediate relief but also to promote health and safety practices during the ongoing public health crisis.
During this challenging time, it was imperative for the organization to stand in solidarity with those most affected communities. The distribution drive was a humanitarian concern for the affected vulnerable families to ensure that no family goes hungry and that everyone has the means to protect themselves and their loved ones. GGSS remains committed to supporting the welfare of underprivileged families and continues to work towards building a resilient and caring society.
