Promotion of Women Producer Organisation in Baksa District, Assam
GGSS is undertaking a three years project on Promotion of Farmers Producer organisation on Pig husbandry, in Tamulpur Block, Baksa District of Assam with the support of NABARD under its PRODUCE Fund. As part of the Project implementation we have formed and registered a Women Producer Organisation (PO) on Pig Husbandry namely; Basundhara Producer Organisation on Pig Husbandry, Tamulpur, with 75 members. The main objective of the project is to capacitate the rural tribal women on Profitable Pig husbandry as an Agri-business Direct Beneficiaries: 75 Rural BPL Tribal Women from Mazdia and Gowalbil and salmara are the members of the Producer Organisation Indirect beneficiaries: 75 rural BPL Tribal households from the selected 3 villages of Tamulpur Block will benefit from the PO Project objectives: To form and promote a Women Producer Organisation (WPO) of Pig husbandry in Baksa District To capacitate the members of the WPO on Profitable Pig husbandry as an agri business To capacitate the WPO on improving their marketing skills To Capacitate the WPO in running a PO To capacitate the WPO in reporting and Documentation To capacitate the WPO in finance management of the PO To support the WPO in linking with the markets, banks, Govt. Other agencies to gain support Major Activities: Formation and registration of a WPO in the proposed target area Training on Scientific and profitable pig rearing for the targeted 50 tribal women Capacity building on How to run a Producer Organisation (PO) Capacity building on developing viable business plan on pig husbandry Capacity building on financial management Capacity building on developing marketing skills Support in linking with the markets Support in gaining various govt and related schemes Capacity building on reporting and record maintenance
